SEMIS Community Forum 2018
Support the Southeast Michigan Stewardship Coalition as they raise $0 for the annual Community Forum at Eastern Michigan University on May 20, 2019.
The Southeast Michigan Stewardship Coalition (SEMIS Coalition) makes education come alive by giving educators hands-on learning opportunities and tools right where they live in Southeast Michigan. From Detroit to Dexter, our model integrates student learning into the community, solving real world problems, and making deep connections to nature.
The work of the SEMIS Coalition is fundamentally about community transformation and building bridges across the boundaries that have traditionally divided us. We coordinate relationships and create coalitions between K-12 schools and districts, environmental and grassroots organizations, researchers and scientists, government agencies, universities and other regional partners.
We believe that the best way to ensure that we have a democratic society and a sustainable world, now and in the future, is for our young to practice being informed and active citizens, now, in school. For close to a decade our annual Community Forum has been a cornerstone of our civic engagement process. Every year SEMIS Coalition youth from across the region lead by teaching each other and the community about issues they are passionate and curious about.
Please join us in making the Community Forum possible and helping to support our courageous teachers who are remaking schools into the places where our children can learn to become loving, connected, and thoughtful human beings!!!
