Dear alumni and friends,
Since Eastern Michigan decided to close its campus in early March to slow the spread of COVID-19, we have experienced an outpouring of support with over 200 alumni, friends, faculty and staff contributing to the Student Emergency Expendable Fund and Swoop's Food Pantry. These programs will be absolutely critical to both the short term and long term well-being of our students.
On behalf of the EMU Office of Advancement and Office for Alumni Relations, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have shown unyielding support in these challenging times. Your contributions are already making a direct impact on students who have been affected by this global health crisis.
Even as the EMU campus lays still without students or faculty, there are a number of ways to stay engaged while also practicing proper social distancing. The University is assembling a “selfie” video montage of congratulatory messages to our graduating students. I invite you to send us a short “selfie” video offering congratulations to our 2020 graduates. If you are interested, please send your 10-15 second video to grad_2020@emich.edu.
I also encourage you to share this project with friends and colleagues as an opportunity to support our #TRUEMU students. To see more opportunities for giving, visit our crowdfunding site at donate.emich.edu. If you have questions or comments, you can reach me at asmith6@emich.edu.
From our family to yours, take care and stay safe!
Sincerely,
Austen Smith
