Engage @ EMU is raising money for hospital PPE
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Engage@EMU, EMU’s office for community engagement and outreach, is responding to the needs of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti. They are in dire need of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to help keep themselves safe and healthy as they selflessly put their lives at risk each day. St. Joseph’s Hospital asked Engage@EMU to help support their efforts by supplying them with PPE that has been approved by their Incident Command team.
Homemade masks (for those who are not on the COVID-19 units) and face shields are what is currently requested, however, this could evolve and grow as needs are increasing. Engage@EMU is helping to support their request by sourcing materials, connecting faculty with the tools and expertise, and involving the community to help support the production of the PPE. The PPE developed will be given to other local hospitals, clinics, community organizations, school districts, and food delivery initiatives, once needs are met at St. Joe’s.
Your gift will help increase capacity by helping to source materials for the production of the PPE. Funds will help us source and purchase fabric and supplies critical to making masks and face shields. We thank you immensely for your gift!
This project is in collaboration with Maker Works, Ann Arbor Sewing Center, Operation Face Shield Ann Arbor, and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. This project is sponsored by GameAbove, a team of passionate Eastern Michigan University Alumni who desire to make a difference for all of EMU.
