Swoop’s Food Pantry is a student-led pantry at Eastern Michigan University that provides food assistance as well as additional resources to positively impact the well-being and success of the EMU community. Since opening on September 21, 2015, Swoop’s has had over 15,000 student visits and distributed over 280,000 pounds of food, personal hygiene items, and household goods.
Students can visit the pantry twice per month at no cost while working towards their degree. Due to COVID-19, Swoop’s is currently offering both an in-person socially distanced shopping experience and grocery pickup.

Swoop’s currently averages 20 visits per day (around 60 visits per week)
Since March 2020, Swoop’s has gained over 250 new student shoppers that were impacted by COVID
Swoop’s not only provides food but also provides 50 Thanksgiving and 50 Holiday baskets, loans out graduation gowns and provides other resources to assist students.
