"My experience here at Eastern has been life-changing and surreal. I used to visit the campus and the city of Ypsilanti when my sister was attending the University as a scholar and world-class track star in the early 1970s, and never in my wildest dreams that 50 years later I would be seeking to obtain a Master of Arts degree in Africology and African American Studies, that same degree that my sister achieved. My admiration for the AAAS department and its mission is powerful; my heartfelt thanks also go out to all of the faculty, students, and staff. I will continue to promote the great work you and the department are doing, and will keep in touch as I venture into the next leg of my journey.
