Interior Design Certification Application Fund

The Interior Design Program at EMU is creating a fund to offer scholarships to upper-level students, who seek various certifications. They would apply to the fund indicating what exam they intend to apply/complete (e.g., part of the NCIDQ, WELL, LEED, NKBA). This will give students a head-start with credential development as they aim for graduation. Test application fees range from $200-$800.

We have much to celebrate here at EMU and we look forward to supporting our talented students as they progress towards graduation and enter into the workplace. For the third year in a row, EMU IDE students won the top three spots in the national CET student rendering awards! Below are the renderings along with a bio of a current student who is on their path to success. We are immensely proud of our IDE students and we are excited at where we are headed.

Lauren Graszler started the Second Bachelors programs at Eastern Michigan University for Interior Design in 2017. With each interior design class, she felt like it was a new opportunity for her future. Lauren became most passionate about the sustainability aspect of design; where she could design with a purpose to also make an environmental difference. It is rewarding to create such spaces and that is why she wanted to be certified as a LEED Green Associate following LEED-course completion. Lauren looks forward to maintaining this certification as well as seeking other certifications connected to design that will add value to the EMU Interior Design degree.

Our goal is to support students toward these certification milestones with funding toward the application/exam process prior to graduation. Lauren already has one under her belt and is currently finishing senior-level classes heading toward April graduation. She is a mother of three boys – two are twins.
