A prestigious and treasured EMU tradition, the Undergraduate Symposium celebrates the exceptional academic work of Eastern Michigan University undergraduate students. This annual event showcases student research and creative projects.
Hosted by the College of Arts & Sciences, the Symposium began in 1981 and was the first of its kind in the nation. Symposium participation is open to undergraduate students from all colleges and disciplines of EMU who are guided by a faculty mentor and supported by their respective department/school.
Over 300 students from all undergraduate disciplines participate in this annual spring event.
This year, the 43rd annual event will be held in-person on Friday, March 31st, 2023.
As a donor, you provide students with opportunities to work with faculty on mentored research or creative projects throughout their EMU career.
Donors allow us, through the Symposium and its related awards and needs, to create a dynamic and unique cumulative learning experience through one-on-one student/faculty partnerships.
We appreciate our donors as the financial contributions they provide inspire and support student's academic success at EMU!

Your support helps defray costs of the Undergraduate Symposium. Funds will support students as they prepare for their research and presentations. Your contribution will be directed to the Undergraduate Symposium Advancement Fund to support annual program needs now or the Undergraduate Research Symposium Endowment to ensure this excellent program lives on in perpetuity. Your sponsorship includes all elements of the Academic Advocate level plus promotion on Symposium social channels during the event + the option to name a poster presentation session!
Your contribution supports a 2023-24 Symposium Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF) and their faculty mentor to provide project funding as they engaging in research and creative projects. Your sponsorship includes a thank you in the official program book + a specialized SURF-themed gift and a meet-up with your future SURF at the 2024 event!
Your contribution supports a 2023-24 Symposium Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF) and current year operational expenses. Sponsorship includes all elements of The Event Champion level + a Facebook header on the UGS Facebook page, UGS website, Sponsorship Recognition at the event and the opportunity to sponsor poster and oral presentation sessions.
