EMU Changing the Cycle provides FREE period products for anyone who needs them, alleviating the financial burden of having to purchase period products, and allowing everyone to easily access products in the buildings where they learn and work without stigma or shame. This year we expanded from only 8 dispensers to having dispensers or baskets in every building on campus, more than 70 total locations!
Your gift to this project will help us purchase 100% organic pads and tampons to keep our baskets and dispensers filled. A $13.75 donation will fill one basket, and a $25 donation will fill one dispenser. Please help us fulfill our mission to end period poverty on EMU's campus today!
EMU Changing the Cycle is a student-founded program providing free, accessible menstrual products to members of the Eastern Michigan University campus community. Period poverty significantly impacts college students, particularly women of color, and first generation college students, and a recent survey suggests that COVID-19 has increased this impact significantly. In 2021, there was a 75% increase in people having to use substitute products (like socks, rags, or toilet paper) in place of real period products compared to 2018. This can lead to health problems as well as missed classes and work shifts (not to mention embarrassment) when these makeshift solutions fail to prevent leaks.
